Cleaning pool sediment after SLAM (from algae)

Hello,

How do robots that connect to suction line work? Do they suck water with dirt through the sand filter? And then you just backwash?
Or should suction robots be working with filter set to Waste?

Yes, the suction cleaner will simply pull that dirty water into the filter (filter mode) and you will backwash when the filter pressure increases by about 25% from the clean pressure. If someone wanted to filter lots of junk to "Waste" they would probably do so manually to keep an eye on the water level as it drops (fairly quickly).

So i don't need do backwash after every cleaning.
