Cleaning Jandy Aquapure 1400 advice

Any tips on cleaning the Jandy Aquapure 1400 cell? After removing it from the plumbing I’m guessing I need to also remove both the cap on the side with flat grey cable along with the black plug with the round black cable. Do I just set it in a 5 gal bucket with a mixture of 1 part acid to 4 of water and let it stay there until it stops bubbling? Any tips would be helpful. It’s been in service for about 5 months so thought I’d clean it

Do not clean it unless you see calcium deposits on the blades in the unit. You will just shorten the life of it. What does it look like inside?

As NOLA says, do not acid clean a SWCG unless you really need to . I have never acid cleaned our SWCG in 6 years. Properly managed pool water chemistry will keep your SWCG from getting scale in it.

Thanks. Would I unscrew the cap on the side to see the blades?

I do not have an answer on that. I have never owned one of those SWCG's, Normally you just look from the end of the cell.

Google “video on how to inspect SWCG”. You are going to have a LOT of water gushing out unless you drain first. I watched a couple of videos and it made it very easy.
