It’s time to clean my cartridge filter. Does TFP recommend just using water or supplementing with a chemical cleaner? If so, which one?
TI just spray mine clean with a water nozzle. If your pool gets a lot of sunscreen, etc in it you can soak them in TSP after cleaning them. Rinse well.

as far as tsp - we’re just talking regular old deck cleaner / all purpose cleaner you can get at lowes or Home Depot?I just spray mine clean with a water nozzle. If your pool gets a lot of sunscreen, etc in it you can soak them in TSP after cleaning them. Rinse well.

Yep. Exact same experience. If your brand new PebbleTec is anything like mine you will probably find a fair amount of the pebbles in the filter pleats. I ended up spraying with a hose for quite a while to get them out, but I had to do it again I think I would use my shop vac (setup in wet mode) on them first before hosing them down to remove the accumulated dirt and plaster dust.
Completed the job. Psi only went down a few. Should I interpret that as I didn’t do a good enough job or that it wasn’t that dirty yet? I cleaned at 18 psi. That's it.
Was that 25% above clean pressure?I cleaned at 18 psi.
When they put these filters in, clean psi was around 15 or 16, so maybe a little less than 25%. I’m also running as a slightly higher rpm to filter more water now that water temperature is above 90 almost all day so my psi is higher anyway. Was that 25% above clean pressure?
Ok. 17 psi @ 2800 rpm. Clean again at 21 or 22. Got it.Select a rpm, record the pressure now. Each week, use that rpm to check the pressure. When the pressure has risen by 25% over the clean pressure, time to clean the filters.
