Pool is 1.5 years old, the salt cell is a Jandy IC40. I keep chems in range. Should I pull it out to check it? Not sure I need to clean it like my filter?
Your salt cell can be checked. Pretty easy to do. But if there is no visible scale, do not clean it. The use of acid on the cell has the potential to reduce its life.
If you maintain your CSI between -0.3 and 0.0 you will not get scale on your cell. Also, the cell reverses polarity which sheds the scale. I use that to tell when my chemistry is getting off in the pool.
I have never had to clean my SWCG in 4 years.
Your SWCG is not an IC40. That is a Pentair model number.
Yep, my mistake, and a big one, not sure what I was thinking, Aqua Pure 1400. Yes I keep my CSI -0.3 to 0. I tend to add acid once per week or so when CSI reaches -0.02 or -0.04 , this brings CSI to -0.6, and ph to 7.2 then I let it drift back, 7-10 days.
