I used the Effects of Adding in Pool Math and for your pool, every 1/4 gallon of 12.5% Liquid Chlorine will add 3 FC. Also don't be afraid to run a little hot and overshoot your target so as the FC remains in the target range as if drifts down.

I’ll explore the app a little more. Just paid the yearly sub this morning.

Dont let your FC fall too much more as it is already low.

Edit - with your new CYA of 70, you still should be 8-10 (you are at 7).

Thanks for this. I drained a little more water today. Only about 4” or so, and I added 22oz of liquid chlorine. I’ll check levels again tomorrow and keep draining a bit here and there until I get myself down in the 30-40 CYA range and keep my FC according to the chart.

CYA of 60 is just fine. Target that for now and keep your FC in Range for the CYA.

Not sure if this should be a new thread or not, but I figured better to keep it all in one place for reference.

Last season was my first with my pool. The pool store sold the Frog Leap System along with the pool. And last season, I used it, both the Anti-Bac Mineral Pac, and the Torpedo chlorine pacs. I ended up modding a couple to use my own 1" pucks.

This season I have NOT being using the Torpedo chlorine pacs, and instead using liquid chlorine as per advice here on TFP. I DO plan to use a Torpedo though for when I go on vacation for a week over the summer to keep feeding it chlorine while I'm away.

The actual question: In order to use the Torpedo pacs, you need the Anti-Bac Mineral Pac part of the system, because the Torpedo thing fits inside it. I DO have an Anti-Bac Mineral Pac I put in when I opened the pool. Should I just NOT be using this thing? Will it hurt anything? My feeling from reading old posts on here is that it doesn't REALLY help anything. Let me know. I will need to use it for a spacer for the Torpedo pacs, so maybe I can take it out for now and just use it along with the Torpedo when I go away?

The reason I'm wanting to use the Frog Chlorine torpedos over a floater is I plan to keep the solar cover on while I'm away, and I feel like Chlorine distro would be better thru the Frog and I don't want high chlorine concentration to hurt the solar cover seeing as the floater wouldn't be able to move around with the solar cover on top of it.

You need to use an empty Mineral Pac, or figure out how to remove the chemical from the Mineral Pac. The mineral pac adds Silver Chloride.

I can drill out a hole on the bottom of it and empty the minerals. That's no big deal.

What does silver chloride do to your pool?

Earlier in this thread I had posted results and was told that all was ok, but CYA was too high and FC had to some up to meet it (and to try to drain a bit to lower CYA).

Here's updated numbers, not much has changed, but I did get CYA down a bit.

FC: 8
CYA: 60-70 (still not great at this test but in the spirit of assuming the worst we'll say it's 70. I'm going to keep draining a bit here and there over the week to hopefully get it to a solid 60).
CC: .25
TA: 140
pH: 7.8
CH: 150

My pH seems good there at 7.8. Should I just not worry about the TA of 140 as long as my pH isn't creeping up? (Or until it creeps up, if that's normally what happens after more pool use and aeration due to splashing around in there).

Maintain your pH in the 7's and TA will resolve itself.
