Chlorine/CYA Balance

Could my high ph be causing my CL not to be producing at a higher number?
pH does not effect the generation of chlorine by the SWCG.

In the future - use a 10 ml sample to test FC. Add one heaping scoop of powder and each drop of reagent to clear is 0.5ppm FC.

One detail that I didn't report was my ph is 8.0. I used pool math to lower to 7.6. Could my high ph be causing my CL not to be producing at a higher number? My AL is at 90.

My CL this morning was at 3.2 after 11 hours of not running my pump and SWG. So raising my CYA to 60 seems to be working since my CL reading yesterday afternoon was 3.4.

8.0 is considered an acceptable PH, but you can lower it if you want.

Interesting I just did my sample at 10ml and 10 drops went clear. I'm at 5.0 currently and I was at 3.2 this morning 8am EST but my test was at 25ml. PH went down to 7.7 and SWG is still at 85%. Seems all good. Whats your thoughts?

whichever test you do, stick with 1 for consistency. It’s too easy to be a bit off for each test. As long as you are consistently off we can know you are producing more FC.

It’s not as hot or sunny today so you also may not have the peak demand going on. You’ll have to prove the extra FC over several days instead of just one.

I've always did my FC at 25ml but going to 10 will save me on reagents. So I will stick to 10ml test. This was suggested to me this morning.
