Cartridge Filters Not Fitting

I purchased new cartridge filters for my Hayward Swimclear. These are supposed to be direct replacements for original. Everything measured out fine, but the cartridges would not seat on the base. I placed them in the sun and was able to get them on the base, but then the alignment “spider” at the top of the filters would not go on so I went to remove the cartridges and on of the base pieces broke. I’ll need to buy and install a new one and wonder if it’s a difficult job. It’s too late to return cartridges, any suggestions on getting them to fit properly? I thought about filing down the edges a bit to see if that will work. Any ideas? Thank you.

Thank you, I did and their reply was to push harder and/or file down the edges. Not much help since pushing harder is what got me a broken manifold. 😕
Hey Chris- I had the same exact issue. Looks like maybe even the same equipment. Just wondering how it worked out for you? 3 of the 4 I bought did not seat properly so I was confident that it was a manufacture defect. The openings were only slightly off but did not seat properly. I ended up filing them down (big pain) and they seem to be working out

Hi, spent about 2 hours filing them down until they fit. I ordered a new manifold so ended up switching that out too. Everything has been working great until this past week, but the issue may be o-rings so I need to deal with the next problem 😂. The pump loses prime over night so I’m starting with the easy things first.
