I have a rectangular pool 23,000 gallons. It has a 1hp motor with 1.5 inch piping. I need to replace my cracked sand filter and want to upgrade to a cartridge filter. I know I have limits from a GPM standpoint and I'm trying to not break the bank. Would a 200sf Pentair Clean and Clear Filter work for my set up. I run my pump about 9 hours a day. I appreciate the input. This is an unexpected expense at a bad time - aren't they all.

Filters have no minimum flow rate.

A bigger filter means you can clean it less often. I clean my cartridge filter once a year. It is oversized for my pool. A 200 SF filter may work. You will have to clean it more often.

Cleaning a cartridge filter is more involved than a sand filter.
