Can't keep my pool clean this summer!

Thanks for the suggestion - I've been trying to do something similar, basically testing every other day, when I get home from work. I take a sample from the deeper end of the pool, as well. Not close to the returns.

I've found that the FC has been consistently rising (since I set it correctly as per @PoolStored suggestion). I'm guessing that I'm not getting much, if any, UV loss. We also haven't been in much since the heater died out. My SWG seems to have automatically lowered its output (I have to look at the manual); and I lowered it a bit more last night.

9/5 - 5.5
9/7 - 9.0
9/9 - 12.5
9/12 - 17.5 (noticed 1.0 CC in this test - anything to be done?)

Amazing what a pool can do once the SWG is properly setup (thanks installers) - thanks all for the help this summer!

Your pool is unique. No one else has your combination of usage, location, exposure, etc etc. That's why TFP is more about educating people on the science, so they can use the measurements to make the right decisions for their pool, rather than trying to fit a standard regimen to your unique situation. With a consistent increase like that, I'd probably be looking at adjusting the SWG down a little as you have already done, and then monitor for a few more days. You may find you have to increase it again. You can even use Poolmath to estimate how much to reduce it by...

A single CC measurement is not a cause for panic, check the skimmer for debris, dead frog, that sort of thing. If it persists, then you might need to start looking for why...

Sorry to tack on this thread, but still having my FC continue to climb (23.5 on 9/18, 27.0 on 9/25) - we haven't used the pool in weeks and much less sun, and I had also dialed down the SWG to 40% (equating to about 2.6ppm of FC daily). How could I possibly be gaining that much?

Because our UV demand dropped like a brick. It's almost October and we'll be wearing layers very very soon. :)

Turn off the SWG and it may not needed to be turned on again.
