Can someone tell me the difference in these paver types

The pavers you like are flagstone. They are an upgraded paver compared to the rounded ones.

The rounded is traditional style many fall into Roman cobble category. Smooth amd flat are modern amd part of contemporary or contempra style pavers

I have the Roman cobble in my driveway. However, I think the contemporary would look better for a pool deck and maybe less stubbed toes.

Depends on the house style and yard really. I love modern styling on everything. Few houses can really pull it off around here. Traditional is 95% of the market
For myself and my lovely wife it was a function over fashion decision. We are definitely going for a rustic pond look so the natural choice should have been a true natural stone patio. However that is definitely not what I would want to be walking around on in bare feet and I can only imagine the amount of grit that would remain in all the cracks and crevices. So the next option would have been a rustic paver. When I see these rustic paver surfaces all I see is a paver trying to look like a old rustic cobble or stone surface and not doing a very good job at it that would still hold grit more than a flat surface. So If we were putting in pavers they should just look like pavers and not try to be something else, as well as give us a nice smooth surface to maintain and walk on. Using the polymeric sand and the largest pavers I could find gave us exactly that an we absolutely love the surface. Just my humble opinion..

We are going through the same process now and are looking at pavers just like the ones above. We have a more "traditional" paver on our existing patio (OGC by Unilock). They do not make that color or pattern anymore (plus it has fader for 8 years), so matching perfectly was out of the question. So what do we use to transition from the existing patio to the new pool area? Not the "traditional" pavers, or what we have been calling the "rough ones". They were fine when we put the patio in, but I don't want to walk around a pool in bare feet on them so are looking at the more "modern" pavers like @Rich D posted above.
Not sure of the exact name of those, but for us, in Unilock this is similar to the "Beacon Hill" (larger stones in the pattern), or the "Artline Smooth".

The rounded ones were called pillowtop from the pavers I was looking at. We went with the traditional straight paver.
Hi! Yes, Flagstone. This is what my pool builder uses and there is one that is pewter white in you picture and there is another one that has the white, pewter, and some brown. I saw these at my pool biluilders office.. I am going with just the white and pewter and the flat edge. To me that is not necessarily modern, just updated look so will go with that. Here are a few pictures. My pool builder has a great website with all their decking images and a great way to see various options. I could not download the pictures but here are some screen shots if wanted to see what looks like in a pool deck. I will say in person they look less busy than they do in the pictures.
