Can muriatic acid go bad?

I likely have one bottle too many due to the “SWCG pools need acid all the time” thought process. How does one safely dispose if needed?

You will need to add acid once or twice a week starting soon. The fill water TA is high, and as you add that due to evaporation, your pH rises.

I was thinking of pouring onto dirt/gravel area and just dilute with hose. We’re on septic so can’t pour down drain. Other than that, some people have hazardous waste disposal events in their neighborhood but my whole reason I’m getting rid of it is cause the container might be rotten so transporting is not an option for me.

Pouring water on acid does not neutralize it. It will just make an acidic solution.

Get some baking soda and pour it on the acid to neutralize it. Then hose the area down.
