I have unfortunately discovered that the Active 30i does not, but have heard that the M500 is better at surmounting obstacles. Does anyone who uses Paramount SDX pool drain know if the M500 can clear it?
Thank you. I have looked several ramps as well as attachments that keep the robot from going onto it in the first place, but none are compatible with the SDX due to its large diameter and design. Not thrilled about draining the pool and replacing them (if I can find ones with the same bolt pattern?) to accomodate the robot when it is supposed to make life easier...honestly I would rather replace with a better model or just go back to my suction side cleaner.I'm sorry I can't say for sure, but they make special covers to go over normal ones like that which lower the profile, and allow Bots to travel over them. They will be pretty large in diameter to lessen the projection, but way cheaper than a new Bot. I don't know of any covers the 500s get stuck on, but I could have missed that. Usually you don't hear much about them getting stuck on drains. I think partly perhaps too because they have more ability to get off with dual brushes and different maneuvering capabilities. Some have attributed this to the bottom brush, but I've just not seen mine get stuck.
That sounds very promising... probably will order it today. My M500 has gone over a 2 inch tall plastic bowl like cereal bowl size that was blown into the pool unnoticed and it had no problem. It just went right over it and kept going.
"Magical Dream Wish"?Great news Axiom! I'm sure you will enjoy the M500. Have you named it yet?
My wife prefers Magical Dream Wish... I guess it can be MDW for short[emoji106] ?Dream Bot...a play on Dream Boat
M500 came today and I set it up. First thing I did was go into manual mode and drive over the drain cover; made it with no problems. The Active 30 could not do that. As a bonus, it turns normally as well, whereas the Active 30 tries and often fails to turn using water jets.
