I am not sure how old the M500 is, but it is no longer under warranty.
The out-of-water test works fine. Everything works as it should. When I put it in the pool, it goes forward and backward about 2 feet, then rotates left and right, then forward and back and back to rotating. It does this for about 5 minutes, then shuts off. Impeller was removed, and there is nothing inside it. Tracks are clean. We had just installed new climbing pads on it since we found one broken in the pool.
What could be causing the M500 to not move more than 2 feet? Did we do something wrong when we installed the climbing pads?
Could it be that the bearings are bad? Could it be that we need new guide wheels and pully gears?
Could it be the Active Brush Assembly needs replaced? Center brush on the bottom.
We don't know where else bearings could be.
Which replacement part should we try first?
Thanks,
Patti
EDITED:
I left the power on, and after an hour, I went to check on the cleaner. It had traveled all over the pool. I could see where it had been traveling. Evidently, it started and stopped multiple times.
