Hello - we recently purchased a home with a pool and had to replace the electrical & so the filter/pump was off for 2 weeks & we developed algae. We’ve shocked the pool and the water looks much better but our chlorine levels are still near zero. We currently have chlorine pucks in our chlorinator / skimmer. Would it be ok to add liquid chlorine directly to the pool in front of the returns? I had read that you weren’t supposed to mix chlorinators but thinking it might be ok if they’re not mixed directly?

Welcome to the forum!
You can add liquid chlorine at the pool returns with the pump running.
The trichlor pucks are adding CYA that is raising the level of FC you need to clear the algae.
Read SLAM Process
How are you testing your pool water chemistry?
I suggest you read through Pool Care Basics - Trouble Free Pool and even look at a few of our videos TFP-TV - Trouble Free Pool

Welcome!

The tablets are very acidic. Adding too many could damage your pool and equipment and crash your TA and pH. I would remove them, get a TFP recommended test kit, and work on prepping for a SLAM. The tablets will do you no good at this point. Just use liquid chlorine.
