I don't see where there would be a problem. In fact I really like the idea and don't know why I didn't think of it. Unfortunately my SWGC has molded in unions. But I could just crank them down tight, and add camlocks after them.

Are you using the GHT (garden hose thread) camlock adaptors, or have you found actual barbed camlocks that fit a garden hose?I have used them for years to connect my garden hose to the hose and no problems. Or are you really going industrial and using 1" hose to water your garden?
I am using the GHT poloy camlocks. Some I have NPT then a brass adaptor. But they do make barbed ones in 1/2" and 3/4" barbs. And even 3/4" camlocks with a choice of 1/2 or 3/4 barb
