Calling pump/hydraulics gurus

Would a PureLine 1.5 HP, PL1507, be too much pump for my system? I'm looking for a cheap two-speed pump, but everything seems super oversized for my setup.

I have no problem running on low speed 99% of the time, so long as nothing will break if it's flipped to high speed for some reason.

One skimmer, 1.5" flex to current pump (1 HP Hayward Power-Flo LX), to S166T sand filter (100 lbs, 1.4 sq ft), to flex hose to hard pipe to single return. All plumbing is 1.5 inch.

If your 1 HP pump works fine then the 1.5 HP should not be a problem running at it's low speed.

It is fine on high speed. There is not that much of a flow diffence netween 1 HP and 1.5 HP.
