Hi,

First time posting and need some advice please.

I just had my old spa replastered for a second time this year. The first time there was a leak that couldn’t be located and the builder replumbed the whole spa for me. This is day 5 of the new plaster

My current values this morning:
pH 8.5+. (Added 3 oz Muriatic after acid demand test)
TA 40 added bicarb
Free Chlorine 1 added liquid chlorine
Calcium 240

I am checking the levels 2x per day and adjusting, along with brushing the spa. Following the NPC start up guidlines

My spa and pool had plaster redone this summer. My calcium was originally about 130 in both and I had to slowly add Calcium over the month to get it up to 200.

That is why I am puzzled by this Calcium value. I haven’t added any. It was not high from my fill water last time. Why would it be high now?

Do I need to drain some water and refill with this value or is it ok? I drained about 2.5 inches yesterday and refilled and it didn’t lower the calcium.

The builder told me to backwash every day for a week and add water each time. That seemed like strange advise to me. My filter was backwashed before he replastered the spa. It’s a sand filter with glass media. Thanks so much for your help!
