calcium build up on tile

I am about to enter into some renovation work on my pool. One issue I have is some pretty severe calcium build on my pool tile. We just completed year 21 with the pool. About 10 years ago I exercised the elbow grease to scrub the tile with pumice stones, with intermittent spot scrubbing. I simply cannot keep up against the foe a tile scale. I am considering hiring a company that will use 'bead blast' to clean off the scale, the reseal the tile. Has anyone else done this and been satisfied with the results? How can I better prevent the scale from returning after the blasting? Am I simply fighting a losing battle and I just need to accept the ugliness of the scale?

See if the service provides Kieserite blast media. It is the best and least intrusive product to your pool water chemistry.

Scale can be controlled by following Recommended Levels. You may have to adjust some of the levels to maintain a CSI between -0.3 and 0.

I've linked a pretty good article below along with my own experience with waterline scale removal via bead blasting (glass beads in my case). Scaling can be reduced by maintaining a CSI in the negative range as Marty mentioned. Evaporative scaling is almost impossible to prevent. After two full seasons, my pool is still looking pretty good. Cost for bead blasting in my area runs about $4 per linear foot, about $400 in my case.
