So, I had what appeared to be a dead IC40 chlorinator. I submitted a service request with Pentair, and they sent a guy out to take a look. First thing he tried was taking the intelliph out of the loop and plugging the IC40 directly into my Easytouch4. Boom, it powered right up. So, he opened the IntellipH control unit and looked at the board inside. The board looked fine, but when he removed the wiring connector to the board, we both noticed one of the pins in the plastic connector was all black/burnt.
So, my question to everyone is whether anyone has seen this type of issue on this unit? It's not even a year old, and I brought that same point up the tech as well. I asked him what could have caused it, given it's brand new. He said it's possible that sometimes when you add salt, if a large concentration of salt goes through the chlorinator, it can ramp up the charge required because of the salinity/concentration, and can possibly pull too much juice and cause that. But he wasn't certain that was the case.
He suggested disabling the chlorinator for about 30 minutes after adding salt, to prevent that super-concentration of salt possibility from occurring.
Has anyone had any experience with anything like this on an Intelliph or possibly even an Intellichem unit?
