Build Thread: 18x36 Rectangle Vinyl SW Pool Installation (New England)

Plumbing and equipment installed! I think the electrician is coming Mon/Tues, and the propane company thurs/fri.

Any glaring problems I should have them address with the equipment pad? I am planning to have the control panel mounted on the side of the shed facing the pool.PXL_20240729_155400917.jpg

The precast concrete pads don't hold up well being mostly foam. At $100 something each, they are more expensive than pouring a permanent pad when the cement mixer is already on-site. :(

Not sure if it was the summers or the winters or the one extreme to the other, but mine were cracking a cpuple of years in and crumbling and in need of adressing when we moved on year 8.

I got my new pool equipment pad for free because I set up the forms while bored waiting for a stalled build. On the pour day they used the leftovers for the pad and didn't have to cart any away. Everybody won.

@Newdude Yea I know... I didn't see your build thread with the "leftover concrete" pad until the concrete truck was already gone. Looks like a project for a couple of years from now 🤷‍♂️

@PoolStored , are you saying the long lengths of black pipe should be rigid schedule 40 PVC, or the shorter white lengths near the equipment pad?

Looks like rigid PVC might have slightly stronger joints (glued vs barb/heat/clamp), but I don't think it's worth tearing out the existing pipe and replacing

At least you are informed. If you experience issues later, please share them with us.

The pool is filling up from the hose pretty quickly! A water delivery service would have cost $550/9,000 gallons, but the town only charges $16.03/hcf ($16.03/748gallons).
Cost to fill 21500 with town water: $460
Cost to fill 21500 with water delivery: $1,100-$1,750 (Not sure how partial delivery is handled).

PB told me to shut off water once there is 12" depth in the shallow end, then turn off the fans. I think I'm gonna be checking the water level at midnight and 3AM to see how close we get

Temporary fence is up, salt is in the pool, we're getting close!PXL_20240731_203918444.jpg

How did I miss this build?? I LOVE your backyard!

You asked above if you needed to do anything to protect your rock wall. What I would do is put up some fencing so the deck crew does not go near that area with equipment or such.

Some more pool filling logistics if anyone is curious

@suzook I haven't heard of anyone else removing their equipment each winter. I'm gonna just leave it outside

@Vol Family , autocover is not completed yet, I'll tag you when its all done. They did say they will install a vault drain.

There will actually be a fair amount of drainage pipes terminating into the woods (sump pump, downspouts, patio/pool deck deco drainage, vault drain, and maybe even pavillion gutter drainage. I am thinking of implementing a very basic dry well: Excavator digging a 4-6 ft hole in the woods just beyond the boulder retaining wall and filling it with 6"-18" stones
