Boric Acid - why granular in lieu of powder

I've decided I'm about ready to add borates.

It seems that power would dissolve easier and quicker than granular

What is the reason that everyone suggests granular?

Because powder is neither easier nor quicker to dissolve.

It has a tendency to float on the surface of the water as you try to add it and clumps up forming gooey masses that don't want to dissolve. Granular is easier to handle and there is no reasonable difference in overall dissolving rates.

I'd think granular has less potential to get blown about as you're trying to deploy it, reducing the risk of exposure too.

my pool is 20k gallons, I'm thinking 40-50#?
