Borax and MA vs other stuff

Can anyone tell me if doing the borax and MA as described in another thread does the same thing as buying poolproof?

Does anyone have experience with poolproof? The pool guys at the pool store are pushing it.

Here is a previous thread that explains poolproof. It is essentially expensive borates.

Go to dudadiesel.com for your boric acid and save your money.
