Just starting with the TFPC method and have a question, do you guys buy bleach by the truckload? My pool is 35k gallons, vinyl and I did my first SLAM to get it clear and algae free and it was 8+ gallons of bleach.
Welcome to the forum!
That is very little bleach if you did a SLAM on that size pool.
Most pools consume 2-4 ppm FC per day when algae free.
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.
8 gallons is nothing to fix a water problem. Recently someone here reported using over 200 gallons of 6% bleach to fix a difficult water problem. Every pool is different.
So, you guys keep sheds filled with cases of bleach? No worries, just wanted to make sure that I wasn't misunderstanding. I used the Taylor K2006 for the first time and FC was 12.8 and CC was 1.2. Pool wasn't all that bad, the 8 gallons cleared it up pretty quickly. I still have a Pentair offline chlorinator using pucks that I will use up before going all bleach. Closing the pool in a few weeks.
You can use 10ml of pool water to test for FC rather than 25ml as the K-2006 first suggests in the instructions. 10ml makes every drop .5ppm which is plenty precise for TFP methods. Saves reagents :~}
