Bigger?

Ok I have a measly 9x18 Intex. What if I put a 1.5hp Hayward and 21 inch filter on it? Will the pool handle it? I am already fully plumbed with 1.5" PVC and a 1 inch outlet.

Not much for the pool not to handle it. If you have already gone to bigger plumbing. You will certainly move more water and the bigger filter will need less backwashing.

Are you going bigger just to go bigger or to address an issue with your setup you don't like.

Yea not much down side there other then the energy hog of a pump.
