Better "heater", dark winter cover or solar?

The pool is technically opened, in that I've filled it up, pump is running, and water is clear (thanks TFP!). We didn't take the cover off immediately because we were having a tree removed and I wanted it down first. It's now gone, but it's going to be cool and rainy the next week. Water is around 65 degrees so I'd like to have it warm up obviously, so would you leave the cover on (black/not mesh) or take it off and put on the solar cover?

I would leave the black cover on. Adding cold rain doesn't warm up my pool very well. You want some good hot sunny days to do that best. WHen you get those days let the sun shine on the water but cover it up again during the cooler nights so you'll maintain whatever warmth you've got.
