I personally always recommend the K-1766 salt test kit. It is the most accurate method of measuring salt levels and does not suffer any interferences. Strips are ok too but they can be hard to interpret and can easily go bad. They are also only good to +/-400ppm which is pretty lousy.
Up to you. I tried the strips initially and then switched to the drop based kit. I prefer the kit A LOT better!
