Best SWCG to Buy given Existing Pentair Intelliflo VS Pump

Thank you, that's what I was about to look into, because if I'm oversizing this so I can run low (RJ60 for 19k pool) I need to ensure I can dial it down in the late fall/early spring, but I do get 8 hrs of sun on my pool so that'll help. Do these RJs shut down around 50-degrees? The sales rep said either 58 or 68, but the 68 sounded impractically high, so maybe it was 58, but that's still a bit high it seems.

We are pretty close. Last year, during the cold snap, my SWCG turned off for about 10 days during the cold snap due to temp (I could have turned the heat pump on, but it wasn't worth it) . I travel a lot like you. My plan was to have my wife throw some of my emergency tabs in if needed, but I just poured several ounces of LC in before I left and the SWCG took over once the water warmed up.

I don't have a leak, and do have automation, but I still only run my pump low speed 24/7. The only schedule I run is this time of year and early spring to turn on my heat pump once the tempt warms up and shuts off before it the air temp gets cool.

It's just easier to not have to think about. I can log in and look at things and adjust, but I've never "had" too. Adjustments to the SWCG are only a few times of the year here. Spring, Summer, & fall / Winter maybe a few tweaks here and there. Once you get through a season, I think you'll have a gauge for adjusting as needed between trips. If you are real worried you can run it a little hot until you're comfortable with it. Don't worry too much about it.

My travel was a huge factor for me, as well, but it makes managing my pool simple.

Hopefully 1 last question for y'all - it seems that Pentair, Jandy & CircuPool all have similarly great reviews/ratings (& equally lots of them). People say to calculate/compare the estimated chlorine output total for each of the 3, so how is that even a close comparison if the CircuPool is rated for 50% more than the others, 15k hours while the other 2 are 10k hrs, plus the CP (RJ60) puts out 3.1 lbs/day while the IC40 puts out 1.4, the IC60 puts out 2 and the Jandy Truclear puts out .93 (so I can run the CP at a much lower output percentage to get my needed FC), plus CP's warranty is 7 yrs while the others are 3 yrs (IF you have a "pro" install it, which comes with a hefty price tag) - isn't the CP the no brainer by a long shot, or what am I missing? (I couldn't get the old pool math calculator to work for this, maybe I need to download the app/new one, but it seems that comparing lbs/day & # of hours will produce the same comparison/metrics.)

I install quite many salt systems and my go to is Circupool RJ series if and when there isn't automation otherwise it's the salt cell that matches the rest of the equipment if and only IF the customer has a 10% chance to switch over to automation at a later time.

People who have done actual measurements have found Circupool output is comparable to other equivalent SWGs and their specifications are inflated marketing puffery.

Read the details of Circupools warranty which is prorated based on retail prices and is no bargain in the later years. Other manufacturers replace cells under warranty at no cost.

I'm pulling the trigger on a SWCG today but the mfg warned me that even though the salts in my pool are in the 3-4000 range that because all this salt is what my bleach left behind, it might not be adequate for the SWCG and I would then need to replace the water. Has anyone dealt with this - did you have to drain, refill & manually add the salt to get the SWCG to work properly?

Salt is salt. If it's low, you'll add some. If it's high, you'll drain some.

They don't know their rumps from their elbows sometimes.
