Made an impulse buy without researching trying to understand pool chemistry. Its a coleman above ground vinyl pool, using the pump it came with so dont know much about its abilities. Starting to understand the concepts and why the level ranges are important. Just having issues with the details. I only knew pools took chlorine but now I have one I know how many different types there are and there are 2 levels testing for, not to mention all the other chemicals needed for balance. I fear I need a little hand holding and this forum seemed like a great community to go through this with.

Hey Michelle and Welcome !!!!
Basically useless and ignorant.
There will be NONE of that. No ma'am. So zip it.

Most of us got here just as overwhelmed. The few that found us before their build started get reminded on the daily just how lucky they were.

We got you now. The hard part is getting here and it's smooth sailing ahead.

My test kit finally arrived!!!

Post your test results. If you have low pH, you must have low TA. Use baking soda to raise TA. That will raise the pH.

The SLAM FC shown is in ppm. Be sure to use the SLAM slider to activate that level of FC.

Would recommend you post results for FC, pH, TA, CH, and CYA -before- you add anything to the pool so we can take a quick peek first (since this is your first time testing)

I think I didn't buy the complete testing kit I must have read wrong, I'm missing the r-0001 and r-0002 for the Tc test
The K 2006C does not come with those. Those are for DPD color match testing of FC. You have the R0870 powder and R0871 reagent for FC testing.

Here are the test results for the ones I could run. Assuming I completed them correctly. I followed instructions as best as I could understand
PH 7.4
CYA 90
TA 200
CH 320

No need. TC is meaningless. The first test is FC and the second CC.

I suspect you need to drain off half the pool water to reduce your CYA. Fill with fresh water and maintain your FC based on
FC/CYA Levels
