Balancing pH after SLAM

Hi all,

I had a small bit of algae bloom so I went ahead and did a SLAM. Looking at it in daylight, I noticed no or very little cloudiness. It seems clear in daylight, but last night with a flashlight the deep end seemed a bit cloudy. At this point though, I think I'm just visualizing the water being cloudier than it really is. I can stay in the SLAM process for longer though. The overnight FC loss test has never been more than 0.5.

My pH has gone up. My TF-100 only tests between 7.8 and 8.2 at the highest levels. I would guess it's somewhere between 7.9 and 8.0.

  • FC - 12.5
  • CC - 0.5
  • pH - ~7.9
  • TA - 140
  • CH - 225
  • CYA - ~25 (was between 20 and 30 when I could no longer see black dot)
My CYA is still a bit low. A reading from 3 days ago gave me around 15. I went ahead and put in 3 cups of stabilizer 2 days ago via the skimmer sock method. Still waiting a week for accurate results, but it has gone up a bit.

Should I add some muriatic acid to bring the pH down a bit?
