Balance pool chemicals

Their metal tests are usually reliable enough. But, sometimes metal tests show 0 even though you clearly have metal stains in the pool. I would get the kit, it will be good to know what is causing the stain.

Hi, No, The plaster owner strung us a long for the last year saying he would make it right, then finally said he did nothing wrong and he will contact PB and I should contract PB again so we could all meet to resolve this. I emailed PB as he will NOT answer his phone, he emailed back and said they would be out last week but we never heard from them. Thank you for asking.

On another note I will need some help doing an AA treatment. Jacks Magic stain kit should be here this week. I did the puck test and did not lift the tan staining I now have, I did the Vitamin C and it removed the stains fast and very well.

I do not know if it is possible to bypass the HEAT PUMP, Will I be able to do the AA treatment anyway?? Also I can not just circulate as stated in the directions, filter will be running, is this a problem. PLEASE HELP

Ok, read up here first, Ascorbic Treatment to rid Pool of metal stains

The first question about your heater is does it have a copper heat exchanger or titanium heat exchanger. If titanium then no worries at all. The next answer is that it will be a quick treatment and won't hurt it either way. Just know that PH below 7 for any length of time is bad for copper heat exchangers.

oh, what a relief that is. I have been reading up on the AA treatment here for a couple of weeks now. Just hoping to do it right, kind of scary for me having no experience with this. I will see if I can find out about the heat exchanger. Thank you so much!!!!

Do you have any idea how the I think iron (since vitamin c took it off so easily) could get in my water. We are on city and also had pool store test and no metals, I read it can test zero but still be there, it is a mystery to me, I keep reading but can not find an answer.

It could be iron or copper, the Vit C works the same for either. You can probably look up a water test report for your water district to see if they report any iron or copper. If your PH spent some time below 7.0 then it could be copper from the heat exchanger. Some algaecides also contain copper.

I ordered Polyquat 60 (algaecide) Jacks Purple Stuff (sequestering agent) and Stain Free (Ascorbic Acid) I think these are the correct items needed and their descriptions. Took me a while to figure out what each one was.. I also printed the AA treatment directions. Now just waiting for everything to be delivered. I also need my water to reach at least 68 degrees. If you see something wrong here please let me know. Can I ruin the pool in any way by doing this AA treatment if for some reason it is not metal staining either copper or iron??? Thank you for all the help.

I can't remember if you think it is iron or copper. If it is iron get some polyfill fiber fill and be ready to stuff it in your skimmer baskets. If the iron precipitates into the water then you might get lucky and be able to filter it out with the polyfill.

Hi pooldv, I do not know what polyfill fiber fill is?????? and if I put it in the skimmer baskets will the pool need to be turned off?? I think it is iron, I am still waiting for all items to arrive and the water to reach at least 68 degrees, that is what the test kit calls for. Also if I need to get my chlorine zeroed out is there a fast way of doing that?? Sorry for all the questions but have never done this and do not know any one else here that has (the AA treatment) don't want to make a mistake. All I know for sure right now is I rubbed a vitamin C tablet on the stain and it disappeared and the quartz color came thru.

Pool pump on. It is used to filter iron out of the water if the iron precipitates into the water and turns the water brown. Leave it in until it turns funky brown and then toss it and add new. Do this as long as the polyfill keeps changing colors.

You're welcome. You should put the polyfill in if the water turns brown. If the water turns brown that means the sequestrant and or the stains released the iron back into the water and it came out of solution. Which means that you have a chance to filter it out. Sometimes that happens and sometimes it doesn't.
