I was looking over my annual expenses; noticed that my average cost for pool supplies (primarily chlorine, acid, calcium, filter DE, as well as minor items such as polaris tail sweep replacements, test kit refills, grout brush, etc.) was around $50 per month. This is for a pool/spa ~ 30,000 gallons in full south Texas sun.
Curious if that is normal? What do y'all typically spend on pool care per month?
I assume the size of pool and amount of sun impact the chemical usage. Bleach (chlorine) is around half of my cost ($300/year); average costs are higher in summer vs winter (as expected due to increased pool use and higher temps, sun, etc.).
Any best practices on how to save on bleach?
Thanks!

per month chemical wise....since I only need to add bleach is around $ 18 ish. - your pool is about twice my volume
I buy 6% bleach by the case for 9 dollars at the local cash and carry. go through 2 jugs a week during swim season.

Every pool is different but mine pretty much maintains it's ph of 7.5 year round.
I do have to add cya every march (when I open) then again at the beginning of june. Thats about 28 bucks in cya granules.

I'm at 15k gallons, probably about $400 per year. I do need to add at least a gallon of acid monthly, not sure why my ph is always creeping up. Pool finish is pebble. That includes a 4# jug of stabilizer ($15), and a 4# bag of Zeofiber ($19).

Curious myself, so I did quick wag. Of my bottles of bleach (HEB's Regular Bravo), most are used between Mar - Oct, then it slows down dramatically. I use about 1/2 gallon per day in the peak summer - full sun. I might not even need 2 cases of acid, but I listed it just to be safe. I never need calcium since our local water is fairly hard. I think that's fairly close, give or take a few $$.
