Auto Cover Question

Hello,

I like to ask a question about Auto Pool Covers?

I assume the cover is made of vinyl material. Can anyone tell me how thick/Oz it is made of?

I am thinking of doing a DIY project to jerry rig several vinyl tarps to cover my pool when not in use. Also, what are your thoughts of using poly tarps vs vinyl tarps. This project is not for safety concerns.

Auto covers are safety covers that are permanently attached to the decking.

Use solar covers instead of tarps because at least they float. Treat them with respect when out there, you or a child or pet would become an underwater burrito if anyone fell in on an unsecured cover.

Get the thinnest solar / bubble cover so it's easier to manage. The thicker covers do better with rips but are more likely to get snagged because they are harder to manage. So it's kinda a wash. Plus, when you ruin a thin solar cover it costs less to replace so you're less mad about it.
