Auto cover pump

Hello,

We had an auto cover out on our pool when we closed it in October (yay!). My question is we had a lot of snow last week, starting to melt today. My husband put pump out to drain where it was melted. There is still some snow on the sides which probably will melt tomorrow. My husband is leaving pump out so it will continue to drain water as it melts.

Just wondering if this is how others manage snow/ice on cover.

Leaving the pump on the cover during the thaw is fine if the pump has a float switch.

What model pump is it?

Yes, I believe it does. It is a Wayne pump.
