Hello, I recently moved to a home with an inground pool. I am not sure how old the pools is. We noticed that the small area between the coping and tile has degraded and is unsightly. I attached pictures. Is there something that can be done to fill in the cracks and cover this area to improve the appearance? I am not looking to do a major construction job. Repair with some type of caulk or other sealant would be preferable.

Welcome to TFP.

The mortar is eroding and you are getting some Efflorescence - Further Reading

Nothing that you can put on there will last and stay looking good.

Your pool looks like and old pool and no one is going to be examining your coping when they are enjoying swimming. Some caulk will not make an old pool look new for more then a month.

Thanks for the feedback. I am getting pavers placed over my existing pool deck surface and they will be putting coping over my existing so it will cover this up some. The aesthetic part is not going to be an issue. Just wondering if I should take the time to fill in any gaps in the mortar to strengthen the underlying structure before the new material is laid on top.

I used some Tremco Vulkem 116 on that same area for my pool. Wire brush/clean as best you can and mask off the tile. Fairly easy to work with. Only been 2 months or so but looks nice.
