I'm thinking of switching from an Aquapure PDA to the iAqualink web-based control. I'm going to get a couple of estimates because I don't think I can do this myself ('cause I hate working with electrical stuff). What price range should I expect?

If you upgrade a PDA system you can keep or sell (or turn in for builder credit) the actual PDA and the PDA antenna (worth $500-$1000 on eBay). Either version of Aqualink should include the powercenter as that is where the system itself is located. Upgrading from the PDA to RS is around $1k. Depends if you have the IQ20/30 antenna already. A little under $1k if you have the antenna, a little over $1k if you don't.

Many builders do not know the difference between the IQ20a and the IQ20-RS upgrades. IQ20a is just the WiFi antenna. This does virtually nothing for you. You still have a PDA based system but now with the ability to turn things on/off with your phone. Big deal. The IQ20-RS is the full PDA based to RS based conversion which switches roles and gives you Internet access (and makes the web interface is your primary interface).

All you should need is the IQ30-RS kit, and you can easily do the board swap yourself. Change the board, then remove the PDA antenna j-box and put the iAqualink one in it's place. If you can turn a screwdriver there's no reason to pay a pool in$taller any amount of money to do this for you.

Haha! Did you see my comment about "electrical stuff?" When you say "change the board", I think "good Lord, what and where is a board?" I kinda assume it is a circuit board of some sort, but really have no idea how to locate the correct one and remove it. You make it sound easy. I rarely buy anything on Ebay. I might go and take a look and see what's there. Thanks.

@kjmoriarty If you are concerned about how to install, then it is best to purchase from an authorized Jandy dealer. I see you live in Texas but where? Pinch a Penny is in some cities and they sell the iQ30-RS kit. That is both the PCB and antenna. They can install it as well.
This kit gives you full control via the iAquaLink phone app or by login to the iaqualink.com website. There is some set up steps so it may be worth your while to pay for the installation.

If you wish, and you love your PDA, you can actually have both active. You would keep the current antenna that talks to the PDA and you would install the second antenna that gives you web access. Both would connect to the RED connector on the PCB. This would allow you to use the PDA by the pool and not require to access via the phone. You cannot do any programming with the PDA, it just will let you turn lights on or off or operate a cleaner, etc.

I did not install my PDA with my iQ30-RS because the screen on my PDA was the main issue. You can sell the old PDA and PCB (if it all works) on eBay to recover some of your expense for the new iQ30-RS and installation.
