Bought a house this past summer that has our first-ever pool! Simple setup, pool/spa, heater (which doesn't work and is about to be replaced), couple of automatic actuators. Our pool guy has been patient with me, explaining how it all is supposed to work. It has an Aqualink Z4 controller that seems to be failing. The clock loses anywhere from 10 to 60 minutes most days, requiring a reset so the pump runs on schedule. And the screen will just go blank and blink on and off for several minutes (while the equipment shuts down).
Pool guy suggested replacing the main PCB (probably because it's the lowest cost component) but that didn't do much to help. Replacing the interface is getting into stupid money to throw at an ageing piece of hardware.
Any troubleshooting advice to try to narrow down the problem component(s)?
Also... will the main board work with something like AqualinkD via the RS485 port if I remove the Z4 interface?
