How do you guys keep the water out of your skimmer for the winter ? I have it drained and gizmo in it with pool noodles also. I keep getting rain water slowly gathering inside the skimmer. I sealed the front with the aqua genie cover and refilled pool half way up. It’s not pool water leaking it bc it was fine for 3 weeks until it started raining. Hasn’t been below freezing yet but want to figure out how to keep rain water out. Do you tape the outer edges and center hole ? Is there a rubber weatherstripping or something that works ?

You're overthinking it. Ice expands up in an open container, about 10%. The gizzmo is insurance enough, then the pool noodles are further insurance. So let it get wet. Not enough will collect to be able to cause damage if it expands the wrong direction.
