Hi, does anyone have an APC brand or Coverstar brand automatic cover along with salt water? How are the components and mechanisms of the automatic cover holding up? The APC rep assured me that their components hold up well in salt water if we keep water balanced and routinely inspect for calcium buildup. If we find buildup, we should file it away.

My cover is not a Coverstar nor APC brand. Mine is by Pool Cover Specialists, the Infinity 4000. I'm sure they're all about the same in the end though....
My cover and equipment shows no damage from being a salt water chlorinated pool at all. Its been almost 10 years.

I have a Coverstar auto cover and SW for my FG pool. Talked to my PB as well as a few other people I know with different covers and none of them had issues with covers and their SW pool. The key is to maintain proper water chemistry and any choice will be fine.
My PB installs both APC and Coverstar. They specifically like the APC better for vinyl pools, and use the Coverstar for their Latham FG shell installs. They tell me the APC is a better choice for vinyl pools because of the track system which ties in very nicely with the liner installs.
I posted a couple of pictures in a different post in comparing my Coverstar cover to my neighbors APC cover (Post #13 in the link below). I like the final touches of the APC compared to the Coverstar, and if I were doing a vinyl liner pool, would have gone with an APC cover. My neighbor had only one issue with his, had to lubricate the rails once, but has a SW pool and no signs of issues besides that.
