Anyone have any recommendations for replacement motor?

the 2hp main pump
just getting old , housing totally rusting out , wanted to possibly explore vsp if it can save $$. trying to get ready for what I think is coming anytime

That is a pump recommendation...total replacement with VSP.

If the wet end is in good condition, you can replace the motor. I would rebuild the wet end when you replace the motor, shaft seal and all o-rings.

I think I understand..If I want variable speed I need both pump and motor

Post a picture of the motor data plate and the actual model number of the pump (or picture of the model number of the pump (on the wet end)).

If you want to convert the existing pump, I believe the Century VGreen EVQ225, and the Hayward TriStar VS Motor Upgrade Kit - 2.2HP - MKIT81VS22 would both work. Also need a complete set of seals/o-rings. We can validate when you post the actual pump model number.

@1poolman1 and @JamesW can confirm

Understood and thx a lot guys
Before you order/purchase a new Hayward VSP, be aware that the Aqua Logic does not have the software to actually run a VSP, that became available with the Pro Logic. Getting the Hayward TriStar VS Motor Upgrade Kit - 2.2HP - MKIT81VS22 would allow you to use your existing relay control to power the motor, then its internal programs would take over. There is not a lot of options with that programming, but you should find one that works for your pool.

Edit - Thanks, JamesW. Should have said that most Aqua Logics don't have the software. The revision came just before the Pro Logic came out. As late as their 2015 edition of the Installation Manual there is no mention of a VSP. My Eco-Star is from 2010.

Check the Software Revision.

See if the Filter Configuration has an Option for a Variable Speed Pump.

This pump can communicate with and be controlled by Hayward pool controls such as OmniLogic™, ProLogic®, ECommand® 4, OnCommand®, OmniHub, S3 Omni, and OmniPL. Minimum software revision requirements: OmniLogic R1.0.0, ProLogic 3.00, OnCommand 1.00, E-Command 2.65, E-Command 4 2.80, AquaLogic 2.65, and AquaPlus 2.65.
