Anyone ever do a controlled experiment on the CYA test?

The TFP 50% solution really is a good way to go. Use it in the same location you usually test. Use the same method. Do it every day along with the usual testing until it's gone. Future tests have to be easier and more reliable.

Also check out the effect of inaccuracy. It's not much. If you can only be confident it's in a bracket [a, b], add chlorine based on a, and you're done. If b - a is 20ppm, the difference is only 2ppm of chlorine. It's mostly good to be OC about your pool, but not this aspect.
