My sister was here over the weekend, and we had an incredible time together. It's been about a year or more since we've seen each other, although we text and talk on the phone a good bit. We laughed ourselves silly. I think we're still both pruny from being in the pool every minute we could! When we were little girls and got to go to the community swimming pool, we'd always ask if we could 'go back' to the pool as soon as we got home. And the answer was always no. So for the 24 hours she was here, we would get out after about 2 or more hours in the water and within 30 minutes, one of us would say, "You wanna go back to the pool?" And we COULD!!!
Don't shoot me, but I totally forgot to take pictures. I can't believe it either. She'd probably rather I not post pictures of her anyway. And there's NO Way I'm posting any of me. She did have me video her using her iPhone jumping in. She wanted to send it to her daughter in Qatar. We did one in slow motion, and one in regular speed. She gsve me the name of a couple of waterproof cases for my Android. That would be fun. But I'm probably going to need a new phone in the next year, so I'll wait on that.
For those of you with newly finished pools who feel like I did - overwhelmed by all the water testing, brushing, and general catching up on household chores and all sorts of appointments...... I can tell things are getting back to normal. I've got the testing part down pretty good, and all the non-pool stuff is working its way to completion. That overwhelming, drowning feeling is going away. So it does get better. I just needed to be a little more patient. For a week or so, I really did have times where I thought I can't do this, and what in the world was I thinking.
As we tapered down on the plaster brushing, I began doing a little more of my exercise routines. And last evening, I did the full routine. I'm out of shape and have to really watch how I do some of the movements, but it went well. It took me about an hour and a half (easy, relaxing pace). The results???? This morning, for the first time in about 10 months, I woke up pain free without any OTC drugs!!! I can't believe it. So I'm thrilled.
What do I do while in the pool? I'm not really much of a floater, yet. It's hard to relax - I'm hoping this will be something I can learn to do and enjoy. So for now, if I'm not cleaning or exercising, I just love paddling around and looking at everything in the pool. I guess when the newness wears off is when floating may come into play. My son is still shocked that one of my favorite things to do is to wear my mask (a cheapo from WM) and swim around looking at the pebble finish. I wasn't even sure I would like a pebble finish, and I love it. I think it feels great, and my feet have never been softer. But I grew up swimming in a lot of natural waters - this feels much smoother than any I remember. Mostly, I think the pebble is BEAUTIFUL!!! I get mesmerized looking at it, so I swim around and around all over the pool. Now I'm going to go back to WM and buy a swim mask/snorkel combo. The other thing I love to do which I'm sure my son won't tell any of his friends...... I love wearing my mask and diving for swim rings!!! Yes, I'm still a kid. An old lady kid!!! I just love it! And when I tire of that, I'll find some other pool games to do on my own. So far, my other friends aren't really into pool games. You never know, I might talk them into it!!
If I have a friend with me, it seems we love to just visit and visit and visit while moving around the pool and hanging out at different spots.
I did upload some pictures onto photo bucket, so I'll start posting those. Right now I'm having 'Exploder' messages. I'd better submit this and then try the pictures.
Take care,
Suz.
