Another Pool Build in Cypress, TX

It's nice that's a standard item with his company. It's too bad he's not trying to make amends by buttering you up!

Thanks for spelling it out for me. I still try to make sense of things. I tell myself that's a good thing! Lol! You're too young to understand that.... luckily.

Suz! Is your house and pool ready for your sister?

Have you been able to just sit and enjoy your hot tub yet? I can see you and your sis sitting in it and laughing!

Kim

The house is coming along, and the pool looks great. I've been in the hot tub once, but not heated. I'm not sure how much I'll enjoy the spa. I like to keep busy if I can, so sitting seems boring. Maybe in the winter, I will enjoy it more. My son really likes the spa.

I can't wait for my sister to come. She's one of the best story tellers I know. And no one makes me laugh like she does!
Suz.

I hear you on not being still. Moving and doing...........I tend to "work" on my pool more that just float in it. Vacuum, brush sides, etc. If I do "float" it is more playing around LOL.

I am glad Nick likes the spa. I bet he finds it soothing.

My sister was here over the weekend, and we had an incredible time together. It's been about a year or more since we've seen each other, although we text and talk on the phone a good bit. We laughed ourselves silly. I think we're still both pruny from being in the pool every minute we could! When we were little girls and got to go to the community swimming pool, we'd always ask if we could 'go back' to the pool as soon as we got home. And the answer was always no. So for the 24 hours she was here, we would get out after about 2 or more hours in the water and within 30 minutes, one of us would say, "You wanna go back to the pool?" And we COULD!!!

Don't shoot me, but I totally forgot to take pictures. I can't believe it either. She'd probably rather I not post pictures of her anyway. And there's NO Way I'm posting any of me. She did have me video her using her iPhone jumping in. She wanted to send it to her daughter in Qatar. We did one in slow motion, and one in regular speed. She gsve me the name of a couple of waterproof cases for my Android. That would be fun. But I'm probably going to need a new phone in the next year, so I'll wait on that.

For those of you with newly finished pools who feel like I did - overwhelmed by all the water testing, brushing, and general catching up on household chores and all sorts of appointments...... I can tell things are getting back to normal. I've got the testing part down pretty good, and all the non-pool stuff is working its way to completion. That overwhelming, drowning feeling is going away. So it does get better. I just needed to be a little more patient. For a week or so, I really did have times where I thought I can't do this, and what in the world was I thinking.

As we tapered down on the plaster brushing, I began doing a little more of my exercise routines. And last evening, I did the full routine. I'm out of shape and have to really watch how I do some of the movements, but it went well. It took me about an hour and a half (easy, relaxing pace). The results???? This morning, for the first time in about 10 months, I woke up pain free without any OTC drugs!!! I can't believe it. So I'm thrilled.

What do I do while in the pool? I'm not really much of a floater, yet. It's hard to relax - I'm hoping this will be something I can learn to do and enjoy. So for now, if I'm not cleaning or exercising, I just love paddling around and looking at everything in the pool. I guess when the newness wears off is when floating may come into play. My son is still shocked that one of my favorite things to do is to wear my mask (a cheapo from WM) and swim around looking at the pebble finish. I wasn't even sure I would like a pebble finish, and I love it. I think it feels great, and my feet have never been softer. But I grew up swimming in a lot of natural waters - this feels much smoother than any I remember. Mostly, I think the pebble is BEAUTIFUL!!! I get mesmerized looking at it, so I swim around and around all over the pool. Now I'm going to go back to WM and buy a swim mask/snorkel combo. The other thing I love to do which I'm sure my son won't tell any of his friends...... I love wearing my mask and diving for swim rings!!! Yes, I'm still a kid. An old lady kid!!! I just love it! And when I tire of that, I'll find some other pool games to do on my own. So far, my other friends aren't really into pool games. You never know, I might talk them into it!!

If I have a friend with me, it seems we love to just visit and visit and visit while moving around the pool and hanging out at different spots.

I did upload some pictures onto photo bucket, so I'll start posting those. Right now I'm having 'Exploder' messages. I'd better submit this and then try the pictures.
Take care,
Suz.

Here are a few shots from this morning I took to compare the water quality from 2 weeks ago. It's getting better and better. I think the water color is still changing - I don't know how long it will. There are times of the day when I LOVE the Blue Granite. But from about 12:30 to 4:30 pm when the pool is totally in the direct sun, I don't really like the color. Right now it looks like a weird minty (not a pretty mint), washed out and sickly pale gray-blue. It's very hard to describe, and it looks really wonky with the tile. That's when I think either Aqua Blue or Blue Smurf would have looked better with the tile I chose. I think that's my biggest objection with the color during that part of the day. The water color and glass tile color do NOT complement each other at all. But I can live with it, since I really do like the color during the other times of the day.

These pictures are in the morning, so I think the water color looks good.

The deep end.

What a feel good post! I'm so happy you're loving your pool! It's also good to hear how much you love your pebble finish and that it mesmerizes you. We don't think we'll like it so we're going with plain old white quartz plaster, but we would have preferred to go with the most durable finish for longevity reasons. When it's time to replaster maybe we'll consider it. Your feelings towards pebble help me to be more open minded towards it. And there's no other trim tile that I've seen that I like better than yours. That would definitely put me in a trance.

Is your niece stationed in Qatar? If so, I hope she comes home soon. Best wishes.

I can just hear the joy in your voice as you talk about being in the pool with your sister! "Lets go back to the pool! SURE!" What fun!

The diving for stuff IS a blast! Not much diving in my pool but do so love to swim under the water.

You will love your snorkel. You will not have to come up until you want to. You can paddle along and look all you want!

Wake up pain free?????????? WOW! That alone makes it all worth while!

Kim

Suz! I do the same thing - my favorite thing is wearing a mask and snorkel and just floating and looking at stuff! I have the dive rings and play with those as well. LOVE the pics. It is just beautiful!

Amanda: Thank you for the complement about the water. I'm not quite sure I think it's breathtaking, but maybe I'll get there. You can still love your pool and not love every single little thing about it!!!
Not much longer for you!!!!! I can't wait to see your pool!

Julie: You are so sweet! I'm more shocked than anyone that I love the pebble finish. I secretly wanted the white plaster, too. But I'm all into things lasting as long as it's reasonable. I also love the water color from white plaster. To me it's the freshest and purest color for water - maybe because that's what I grew up with. You're going to love yours!

My niece and her husband live there. It's providing them with amazing opportunities, but it makes me very uneasy. My sister assures me they are very sensible. I believe they are, but you know with the young, their idea of sensible isn't always the same as mine. They are grown ups and even if they were my children, I wouldn't be able to make them do something just because I want them to!!! Sighhhhhhh... I just pray and send lots of positive energy! Thank you for your good wishes.

Kim: I'll make sure to have an extra mask and snorkel set when you come!!!!

Wendy: Thanks so much for letting me know you also enjoy the mask, snorkel, and dive rings! I almost didn't mention it - a little shy about it at my age. But I've come to realize most of us here on TFP are just overgrown kids! It's so nice to be around others who share similar interests - and NO judgment!

Thanks everyone!!!
Suz.

Suz it is so great you are having a good time with your pool!

I really do think your pool is beautiful and I am excited for you swimming for rings. I plan on doing that! That is an activity my kids love.

Anyway if you are looking for another activity...
Kids Create Bellagio-style Water Show in Pool - YouTube

If you haven't viewed Umm's YouTube video link, do it now. I love that - so cool and the kids did a great job! What a coordinated effort..... I would be one of the ones doing cartwheels in the back.... NOT!!! And I love all the beach balls! I have to check Amazon and order some just like them.

I'm not sure I could quite recreate the same with only myself. But maybe some of me and my old lady friends will do something! That would be a hoot!

I'm glad to hear you plan to play with the rings with your kids. That's the great thing about kids - they keep you young! Thank goodness, I keep the kid inside me going.

Thanks for the post!
Suz.
