Another Pool Build in Cypress, TX

Love all the comments regarding my fortune cookie message!

But..... I'm beginning to feel like the Borg is mounting a takeover. I keep hearing the Collective "Resistance is futile".

As I see it, my only hope is to cut up the plastic before assimilation.

Don't cut it up. Put it in your jewelry box. That way you have to "think" about it. Might also want to remove those "autopay" features from websites and apps. I find myself making snap purchases because it is so easy.

If that doesn't work, I can send Jan, the frugal finance queen, over for a month or two. ;)

Nooooo! Not Jan! Ohhhhhhhhhhh, I'm being torn in two!

Actually, I'm probably much closer to Jan than it looks like on my pool build. Friends come to me for tips on saving and cutting spending. But this pool build may have obliterated that reputation! Lol!
Suz.

Ha! Jan comes home with new clothes that originally cost like $500 for $75. I swear, she knows how to find every deal. Now, if she could just do the same with Lowe's, Sears, and Harbor Freight for me. Lol

Your pool is an investment in your home and an improvement to your quality of life. So don't rethink that one for a second. Not to mention, it took decades to get to where you are. Consider it a celebration of making the right financial decisions in the past and never look back. Kind of like eating right, sometime ya just gotta go for that dessert or after dinner drink!

ITR: Thank you for putting into words what I could never quite put my finger on. Most of my life, I have refused to spend money on myself for luxuries. And if I did, I felt guilty.

I knew I felt differently about the pool. At times, it was as if I was watching someone else do all that K-RAZY spending. And yet, I was OK with it. I think you nailed what I was feeling deep down inside. It IS a celebration!!

Thanks! I have a huge smile on my face!

I went out happily to clean out the skimmers this morning. And in the skimmer without a frog log, there were two dead frogs. It was sooooo sad. As far a I know, the only frogs found so far in the newly filled pool have been alive and found by the pool guy's son. They were all found in the skimmer that I then bought the frog log for. (and none have been found again in that skimmer - is it working or only keeping the elephants away?) Since none had ever been found in this deadly skimmer, I didn't buy one. I just ordered my second frog log.

I'm very sad over these frogs. They must have been so happy to have found a pond to play and frolic in..... And they were doomed. I know I'm a grown up, but I feel badly for the little guys. I really hope the frog log works. If not, I will either have to toughen up or have my son check the skimmers each morning. Poor little things......
Suz..... :(

Awwww, I'm sorry about the frogs, but I think it's lovely and wonderful that you care about them so much. You put me to shame as I sit here shaking my fists at the birds that think our new hole in the ground is target practice! Never heard of a frog log but I'm going to look it up out of curiosity and hope it does the trick for you in the skimmer.

I posted these under coffee bar. Since they are the only new pictures I have near the pool, I thought I would post them on this thread. I am planning more pictures of the plants, but I don't know what else of the pool I can take that would be different to post.

These are our indoor kitties. They are so happy to be able to go back outside for their evening walks. But they are a little nervous around the pool - except for Toby if I'm in the pool. And they won't go to the back of the yard if the noisy water features are on.

Toby standing on the spa edge while I'm below in the water. He's a mama's boy and rushes out to find me in the pool. Of all our cats, he's the only possible one to take up swimming. He's already batting at the water if I'm in it.

Max and Toby (brothers) enjoying an early evening breeze by the pool.

Dante - our fiercest hunter and most skittish with people. I just missed the shot of his tail all fluffed out when he heard me splash.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your babies, Suz!!!! You need to make Toby some kitty floaties! :D Makes me realize how much I miss mine and how wonderful it is to feel so adored. :) My 3 kitties have been gone 2, 3, and 4 years now and I haven't had the heart to get anymore. They were my life and I nursed them through 2 cancers (chemo is expensive!), kidney disease (giving them IV fluids everyday is no picnic :D) and lots of pills. At least I got to love them for 15+ years. :) I tell you when I get stressed there was nothing better than cuddling with my babies. Your cuties remind me how much I'm missing out.

Suz, I LOVE the pics of your kitties!!!!!!

I had my first dead frog in the skimmer today. I feel bad for them too. I assume mine should be able to get out - with the beach entry - if they can find it . . .

Thank you, Dmalma. They are my babies! Nick and I spoil them rotten - of course, we blame each other for the spoiling, but we both do it. I understand about not having the heart to have more kitties. My heart breaks with each one we have lost. And I have been in similar situations - nursed several through cancer, two with diabetes. I did the daily insulin shots and then did daily sub-q fluids for one kitty with a rerouted bile duct. With the last 'family' of kitties we lost, I did not want to ever have to go through that heartbreak again. But my son had to return home to live, and I thought it best for him that we open our home and ourselves to more kitties rather than just being stuck with the two of us. Now I think that was my excuse I told myself. How could I have missed having Toby, Max, and Dante in our lives???? We also have an outdoor kitty, Killer. He's lived a rough life outdoors and his body is older than his 11 years. His last kidney tests shows his kidneys are going down slowly. That day, I thought, "I can never go through this again." But I know I will.

I know you will do what's best for you and your situation. And it's different for everyone. But a feeling came over me when I read your post...... I felt sad that some precious kitties or pets were missing out on you and your love.

Hugs,
Suz.

Unfortunately, I caught up on your build and crack threads after I commented here. You have your hands full! No time for new furry additions at this time, huh?!!! Maybe after everything wraps up with the pool.

I've been thinking about everyone starting school today. It took a few years, but I no longer miss it. In fact, I'm relieved.

I took a few glamour shots, and then something came up. Right now, I don't remember what. Thanks for reminding me. I need to email them and see if it's too late.

How was the first day? I know you've said, but I've forgotten - aren't you in administration? I hope the school year is off to a good beginning!
Suz.

My first day with the kids was last Thursday. We had just the opposite this year! We have only added a handful of new kids on opening day! Almost everyone per-registered! I only have 15 kids! I can have up to 18 so it has been WONDERFUL! The kids are ALL sweet and mostly well behaved! I need to count my blessing this year!

Suz..... :(

It's just really sad to find the dead frogs. I've only found one very small one, but I felt so sorry for him.
