Amerlite Fixture leaking

Hi,

I have had success in the past replacing a bulb in my Pentair Amerlite fixture, but this time around I can't get it to stop leaking. I've made sure that all the surfaces are completely clean, definitely using a new gasket, and doing everything according to the manual.

I did use some waterproof silicone sealant around the cord grommet area as well, but I may not have done a good enough job with that, if that is in fact the problem area.

I'm wondering though, if perhaps the tension ring that goes around all the clips and tightens with a bolt and nut can get weak/more flexible over time, and perhaps it's not exerting enough pressure after being completely tightened up. Is this a possibility? Has anyone fixed a leaking fixture by replacing the tension ring?

Thank you,
Greg

OK, so I pulled this thing out again after another test, and it looked like this time I could see some air bubbling out of the cord/grommet area in the back. I had already put some waterproof silicone sealant in that area but I don't think I did a thorough enough job. So for now I'm not going to consider getting a new tension ring, and I'm going to concentrate on where the cord comes in the back. I think this time around I'm going to try and make some kind of 'mold' around the grommet area and just fill it up completely with sealant.

Question: I have some Loctite clear silicone waterproof sealant, but would I be better off using two-part marine epoxy instead?

Thank you,
Greg
