ALright - Im back with normal CYA

Morning Jordan, Is there any chance you can post a new picture. The reason is I don't feel I can get you the "best answer to your question. I am tempted to say yes, if you can see in the deep end and can see the kiddos where ever they are in the water. Lowering the FC would just prolong the slam, But as Kim has said, it's well worth it. By posting this it should bring it back to the top of the Que and hopefully Kim or one of the others can give you a more definitive answer.

Here's hoping for a good swim today :swim:

Jordan, can you see the bottom drain? Will you be able to see if a child is on the bottom?

You can let the FC drift down to just under SLAM level. Just know doing that will slow your SLAM down.

I SO understanding wanting to swim BUT safety first. I will NOT say you can swim. That is up to you and only you.

Hugs! Kim

Okay so I believe my SLAM is through. I can see the main drain in the deep end and I am holding on to Chlorine. Did the OCLT last night - had a 6 FC and woke up with FC 5.5. I'll take a pic and upload it later today.

Here are my current readings:

FC 6 CC .5
PH 8.2
TA 220
CH 415
CYA 30 - been losing a lot of water to evaporation

Thank you everyone for all of your help!!!!!!!

Alright, congrats on completing the SLAM!

PH is too high, it is important to maintain PH between 7.2 and 7.8. Because 8.2 is at the top of the test range it could be higher and may take a few additions of muriatic acid to get it down to 7.5 or so. Also, with TA that high your PH will tend to rise faster so keep an eye on it. The action of rising PH to 7.8 and adding acid to lower it to 7.2 will gradually cause your TA to lower and eventually your PH will stabilize. Or you can speed it along with this process, http://www.troublefreepool.com/content/129-how-to-lower-lowering-total-alkalinity
