Alkalinity rise after adding boric acid?

New Pool 13k gallons. IC 40. I lowered the alkalinity to 70 before adding boric acid. I added the amount of boric acid that the pool calculator said was needed. I checked the alkalinity a few days later and it was up to 130. Ph was at 8.0. Does this make sense at all? What would have caused the alkalinity to rise like that?
 
You have a brand new pool, still curing. I would of never recommended boric acid being added at this early stage. Plaster curing will naturally raise the pH and require adjusting often with muriatic acid.

Borates are useful after everything else is *very* stable and requiring few adjustments.

Keep up on the pH with MA, and the TA will follow along. It just may be more challenging with the borates in there.

Got enough testing reagents? Which test kit are you using to monitor the new plaster pool?

From what level? What did you use to lower the TA? (for info)
