Aiper Scuba S1 Review

So some more observations

The hook is super annoying to use. It might go back just for that, we will see what happens this week.

Otherwise the scuba is very easy to use. I take it off the charger pick the setting and drop it in the pool. You never realize how annoying the cable is until you dont have one.

It looks kind of cool roaming around the pool while the Betta is skimming the surface. When they pass by one another it reminds me of those submarine movies like one is stalking the other. (Yes my mind does wander).

Other than the hook it is easy to take out of the pool. It is very light and dumps its water very quickly. Compared to the 26lb M500 it’s a feather. Going to test having the wife pull it out this week.

The single basket is easy to clean as well (but probably no easier than an S200, hard for me to compare).

It’s running right now in Floor only mode. Will do an inspection of the cleanliness after it’s done.

Could you tie a piece of rope to the handle and the other end to a small piece of pool noodle or something? That way you can stand along the edge and as it crawls past you, you can yank it out. I doubt the small piece of noodle would interfere with the Betta.

Good and encouraging observations.

Regarding removal from the pool, how do the other more expensive cordless robots get removed from the pool?
Great idea! What would be really nice is something like this, but upside down floating on the surface, skimming as it was getting pulled around the pool. No cords or sun required!

First time my basket got full. Just removed solar cover and lots of leaves! I think I'm going to quit doing covers, PITA to recover. Just not worth it in Texas.

So just a quick update. This unit does clean well. After a full “floor only” mode the pool is completely clean. It does not miss a spot.

I am testing now in Eco mode to see how well it does if you just want a quick clean and don’t want to wait 3 hours.

Eco mode is decent. It picked up most of the debris. There are one or two leaves left on the bottom.

This is the one time that a remote would be useful. Run until I am satisfied and I can hit a button to stop and retrieve the unit.

Very happy with mine; especially for the money.

Ran floor only as the first run. Ours is a new build so, aside from my manual vacuum attempts, this was its first cleaning!

Hello! I noticed on the aiper website there’s models scuba S1 and N1, but I can’t find any difference between the two except for the price and color?

Sure wish they'd release the "optional" 250um filter! Looks like the S1 and Seagull Pro both have the 180um.

So I ran a full floor cleaning cycle today, and then immediately dropped in the M500 with the pleated filters when I was done.

The M500 picked up some fine dust like sand that I have not seen in the S1.
Also the pool looks a little bit more sparkely after M500, but that could be a placebo effect.

Here is what the filters look like after the M500.

So far I’ve ran the S1 daily, floor only. It continues to find more sand and dirt and seems to be doing a really nice job.

Remember, this is a new build. No one as been in the pool yet so all the construction grime is what it’s pulling out.

I will mention that today I sat the cleaner in the pool and it went in upside down (yeah… I kinda flopped it in. It’s cold out!).

I watched it, thinking surely I’ll be fishing that out and re-deploying. But, to my surprise, as it sunk it also used its jet to flip back and land on its feet. Looked like a sinking cat flipping over. So, that’s kinda a cool feature!

Thank you for all of this detailed feedback! Our Dolphin Active 10 needs a new basket (the latch won't stay shut anymore). The basket alone is $90 (genuine, not generic) so we considered replacing the Dolphin with a cordless Aiper (model undecided). But after the feedback here that having to use a hook to retrieve it is cumbersome, we decided to order the basket for the Dolphin and get another summer out of it 🤞. With a 27' round pool and the deck on only about 1/3 of the circumference, we can't really reach the far side of the pool from the deck, even with the pole fully extended. We also like to run 3 cycles of the robot back to back at times after a heavy swim load or from grass clippings landing in the pool. Having to wait while it recharges is an inconvenience. Thanks, again!

I can tell you now at this point I am used to the hook and that is not the detractor it once was.

Also, I am pleasantly surprised on how easy it is to use. Unplug it, throw it in the pool, pull it out, plug it back in. Clean the basket every few times. I find myself using it much more because of the ease of use. The M500 with caddy, cords, and cleaning the pleated filters each time seems like such a chore.

Now if there are 3 leafs at the bottom of the pool, it’s going in.

I love mine. It’s super easy to use. Agree the hook is a non-issue after the first few times of fishing it out. The unit docks at the side and parks with itself up the wall a bit.

I have ran mine probably 15 times with not issues. No main drain issues, very nice.
