Adding Pool Fill Valve to Jandy RS8

Hello TFPers.

I'm interested in adding a 3/4" motorized ball valve (24vdc) to be controlled by one of my spar aux's (that I don't use) on my Jandy RS8 for my pool fill. Currently no using Aux 5, 6, 7. Not looking for automation on the pool fill, but rather just a way to fill my pool on a 'timer' or by pressing a button on the iAqualink app. The pool fill is just a PVC pipe that shoots water into my pool.

I'm good with wiring etc. so I can wire this up. no probs. I'm open to some of your ideas on how someone would achieve this using the RS8. Here's some pics of my setup. Thank you in advance

Are you going to use a JVA or some other powered valve actuator? If a JVA you should be able to just connect it in wherever you are not using a JVA. Might need to rob the solar one.

Or if you just need to power something "generic" you can use a spare AUX to turn on an outlet or relay that sends power to your valve. I did this with low-voltage lights around my pool. I used my spare AUX (the solar one) to turn on a 110 volt curtesy outlet that I had plugged the low voltage transformer into. It works great.

Be advised the AUX ports are hardwired into their respective JVA actuators.

Thanks for the reply. My plan is to use this (circled) JVA socket 24VAC to power up the 24VAC solenoid valve....then use the Cleaner JVA assignment (since its free) and lastly assign it to a spare aux. I do have a solar on my pool and it does have a JVA. The 24VAC valve auto closes when power is removed.

LMK if you think this should work.

Try and see. Perhaps check the voltage on that JVA port with a multimeter and see if it outputs when you turn on the switch.

Ya, On my schematic it shows 24VAC outputs. I did try my DVOM on the prongs, and I blew the fuse on the back of the board. LMAO. The prongs are small. I've ordered a new plug so I'll wire them into the plug and test the wires when I activate the socket. I suppose I can test the other JVAs to see the output.
