I am changing all pool plumbing myself. Would it be a good idea (since the concrete is already broken) to add light? How difficult is it and what specific light to buy?

Breaking concrete while replacing pool lines seems like a better time to add light than while replacing a liner.
He meant do it about a week before liner install. Get your lines run, niche placed and testing done. Then it's easy to drop a liner in.
Look into the niche-less LED lights. All you need to do is add a return fitting into the pool was and then run flex pipe to you light transformer. If you csan replace the plumbing you can install the niche-less lights. Good luck!
