adding DE to sand filter

I have a question about when to backwash after adding DE. My filter runs around 7 psi immediately after backwashing. So normally I would backwash again when it reaches around 9. So if my psi is 8 after adding DE do I still backwash at 9 psi or do i wait until 10 (25% over the "clean" pressure with DE)?

yes. 25% over clean pressure. The DE just makes the filter 'dirty' to enhance filtering.
