Adding CYA via trichlor tablets

Hi All,
I'm adding CYA to my fresh filled pool by using trichlor tablets and will then switch to liquid chlorine. I tested my water yesterday after about 1.5 weeks of using tablets and CYA didn't register (I'm using Taylor K2005). Then I read that it takes a while for the CYA to register. Why is that? and when should I test? Should I just assume that my Pool Math calculations were right even if the test is telling me otherwise?
I have overdone it in the past and I don't want a repeat!!

A fresh fill should have at least 30 ppm of stabilizer added immediately. Then you can use trichlor if you wish, but understand that the FC target must increase as the CYA increases.

How much trichlor have you added and has dissolved? You can use the “effects of adding” tab in the PoolMath app to calculate how much CYA is added from a given amount of trichlor.
